In my case, I recognize that the hobby is in danger of becoming an obsession, but what the hell… you only live once, and as Oscar Wilde said, the best way to avoid temptation is to give yourself over to it body and soul. The small sets of Speed Champions They will have “few” parts and will be affordable, but they recreate iconic cars from throughout history in great detail, and are as loved by adults as by children. The scooter is one of the great icons of motorcycle history. The motorcycle that mobilized a large part of Europe is today a much-loved vehicle full of character. Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 from LEGO Icons (169.99 euros)
One of the sets that personally attracts my attention the most. It has 1,456 pieces and once assembled, it measures a whopping 36cm long. This 1960s muscle car can be built in a coupe and convertible version, and can also be decorated in red, white or dark gray colours. Its 5.7-liter small-block V8 engine is well present in the assembly. It’s part of the LEGO Icons collection for adults and is a great addition to those who own the Ford Mustang or Porsche 911 LEGO sets.

Optimus Prime from LEGO Icons (179.99 euros)
An ideal gift for the most fans of the Transformers saga. With this set of 1,508 pieces you can build the mythical Optimus Prime. As a good member of Transformers, it is a set that we can display transformed into a robot warrior, or as its “low-key” form of American truck. It is not so common that LEGO sets have a double function as marked as this. Optimus Prime is 35 centimeters tall if we place him standing up and among his accessories he has weapons and a fire axe. Needless to say, we love him.

Formula 1 McLaren MCL36 from LEGO Technic (199.99 euros)
If you have to give a LEGO set to a Formula 1 fan, you can go for a small Mercedes Speed Champions, or you can buy its big brother: the huge Technic LEGO set of the McLaren MCL36, the McLaren Formula 1 of the year 2022. It has 1,434 pieces and you will have to have a place to put it, once assembled measures a whopping 65 centimeters. The engine has moving pistons, and it also has steering and suspension. It doesn’t have as many technical features as other Technic sets, but its final design is really faithful to the original.

DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future of LEGO Icons (199.99 euros)
One of the most sought-after and hard-to-find sets this year. It was released in early 2022, and it allows you to build the mythical DeLorean DMC-12 with which Marty McFly traveled through time several times. In fact, it’s a triple set, you can build the DMC-12 from each of the three movies, with their design variations. It’s a highly detailed set, loaded with nods to the movies – it has two minifigures, rare in this series – and even has a light-up “flux capacitor” brick. One of my favorite LEGO Icons, as I made clear in my test.

BMW M 1000 RR from LEGO Technic (249.99 euros)
Of course there is room for motorcycle lovers in the LEGO Technic universe. This set is the most ambitious and complex ever created by LEGO in the world of two wheels and recreates the BMW superbike, the first created under the auspices of BMW Motorsport. Built at 1:5 scale, it has a functional 3-speed gearbox, a functional chain and suspension on both axles, as well as steering. As a curious detail, the assembly instructions follow the actual order in which the motorcycle is assembled on the assembly line.

If your LEGO aficionado petrolhead has been especially good this year 2022, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 LEGO Technic set is one of the best gifts you can give him.
