2024 Nissan GT-R: If something works, don’t touch it… just improve it

The 2023 Tokyo Motor Show is loaded with news and Nissan did not want to miss its appointment with the new releases: It has just presented the Nissan GT-R 2024… and the motor world has had a déjà vu. Not to say there’s nothing new, but the changes are relatively small – drivers will be able to see that when the Nissan GT-R arrives in dealerships next spring.

The differences with respect to the previous model are, above all, evident in the exterior design. Gone is the V Motion grille, which has been a part of its front end for the past six years: now it has a wide opening that is reminiscent, in part, of the R34-generation Nissan Skyline GT-R. The chosen pattern has a thinner weave to improve cooling and reduce drag.

Combining all the aerodynamic improvements. The 2024 Nissan GT-R gets more downforce, although the coefficient remains at 0.26 Cx. The front bumper has been reshaped to give it a wider appearance and to accommodate hexagon-shaped auxiliary lights in the corners. At the rear, the lines add character to the car and remove some of the slop from the outgoing design. The iconic quad taillights also get a new look.

The Nissan GT-R 2024 can extreme its physique with the nismo package which adds a carbon fiber hood with a clear coating (as opposed to body color), a unique engine cover and red accents on the Rays wheels.

the same power

Nissan has chosen again, for the new Nissan GT-R, the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 that delivers the same power as always, 562 horsepower, has a maximum torque of 632 Nm. Its partner is a six-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends that force to the all-wheel-drive system.

2024 Nissan GT-R T-Spec

Last seen in 2021, the Nissan GT-R T-Spec reappears on this occasion as part of a limited production: the brand has not revealed, for now, how many will be manufactured.

It will be available in two colors inspired by the Nissan Skyline GT-Rs of yesteryear (Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple) and to the base recipe add 20-inch forged wheels from Rays in gold and Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600 tires, a Nismo-specific compound.

Regarding the mechanics, we meet again with the 3.8-liter biturbo six-cylinder, which, yes, comes accompanied by carbon-ceramic brakes and a suspension with a specific adjustment to achieve a better balance between comfort and performance.

2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo

The jewel in the crown is undoubtedly the Nissan GT-R Nismo. Available in an exclusive Stealth Gray color, it debuts bumpers (front and rear), front lip, side wings, a rear diffuser and, above all, a new gooseneck-shaped rear wing, which provides 10% more surface area for downforce.

Added to this is a whole dose of carbon fiber to lighten weight and improve performance: we will recognize this material on the roof, hood, bumpers, sides and door mirrors.

The 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo gets even more powerful with a host of refinements that should make it a powerful track weapon, too. equip an improved version of the VR38DETT engine, which develops 600 hp and has 651 Nm of maximum torque. To improve its behavior, the Japanese brand adds a handful of updates, including more refined suspensions and a new limited-slip front differential.
