Although the controversy over the design of the new Lamborghini Countach is still very much alive, Today we propose an exercise in understanding bringing together the 3 Lamborghini Countach designs that have reached the streets. The idea is not only to put the new tribute created from the Aventador and Sián models in context, but to be able to see 3 motorsport jewels in motion, a unique opportunity that we already told you about that will rarely happen again
Yes, Lamborghini’s reinterpretation of the Countach has generated endless conflicting opinions, and even some discomfort in Marcello Gandini as the father of the original Countach, but the truth is that the Countach LPI 800-4 is called to be a new jewel in the history of Lamborghini. And as proof, nothing better than knowing that the 112 units that will be manufactured of this tribute were already sold… and well sold considering that its price reaches 3 million euros.
When a brand, be it Lamborghini with the Countach, Fiat with the 500 or Volkswagen with the Beetle, risks reinventing its most iconic models, it’s hard to achieve critical success. And if, in addition, this reinterpretation is carried out from other cars, it is still easier not to meet the high expectations that can be generated.
Is the new Countach ugly? In my opinion, not at all, in fact it seems to me one of the most beautiful design of the modern Lamborghini. But in the same way, I also think that the design of this Countach is light years away from the classic Countach, and the main problem is in that combination of such iconic lines on an easily recognizable Aventador and Sián base. Perhaps if Lamborghini had avoided calling it the Countach, the problem would have been solved.Unfortunately, we will never know that.
With everything, Lamborghini has decided to show off its new masterpiece, and far from avoiding comparisons, it has not cut a hair and has brought together the 3 Countach that all of us petrolheads have already engraved in our memory. Seeing them together on the open road is quite an experience, because It is possibly the best way to assess the design of the 3 cars and especially the work of the last model to arrive. And in fact I am going to confess something to you, and that is that after this photo session I have managed to see the Countach LPI 800-4 with different eyes… I will leave it there.
