While His Majesty was royalty, he joined the British Army during World War II. He drove ambulances and learned how to repair heavy trucks while on duty, which led to a lifelong love of driving and a special fondness for Land Rovers. He was seen late last year driving alone around the grounds of Windsor Castle in a green Jaguar wagon. He has been seen many times driving alone, often behind the wheel of a custom Land Rover.

Queen Elizabeth II, who is almost 100 years old, saw a monumental social change. She served during World War II, worked with 15 prime ministers and met 13 of the 14 US presidents during her time as Queen.
