When Ford revealed the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse last September, it also announced it would be showcasing optional carbon fiber wheels from the Carbon Revolution. The automaker posted some photos of the sleek spinner this week, giving us our first look at the new rims.
The 19-inch wheels are Ford’s first five-spoke one-piece carbon fiber rims. They were also the first wheels from the Carbon Revolution to feature a wheel nut between the spokes, much like the Mustang’s classic five-spoke design. Ford and Carbon Revolution previously collaborated on the Mustang Shelby GT350R and Ford GT.

Carbon Revolution will protect the wheels from brake heat by applying a layer of ceramic and metal to the inside of the front rim. Carbon fiber wheels have undergone more than 200 environmental and structural validation tests.
The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will be the beefy ready-to-run version that will sit above the GT in the stable. It packs the automaker’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine, but produces 500 horsepower (372 kilowatts) and 418 pound-feet (566 Newton-meters) of torque. The engine had upgraded internals, including a reinforced camshaft and forged connecting rod.
The Dark Horse also features lots of optional performance equipment as standard. It comes with a Torsen limited slip differential, turret struts, upgraded dampers and larger Brembo brakes. Ford has also added a number of visual upgrades, such as a large rear wing, gloss black grille, rear diffuser and LED headlamps.
We saw the Dark Horse cabin for the first time this week. Like the exterior, Ford has also added unique touches to the interior, such as an anodized blue titanium shift ball for the six-speed manual transmission. Those who opt for the 10-speed automatic get silver anodized paddle shifters. Ford uses Bright Indigo Blue stitching on the dashboard, center console, boot gear shift and center console. There’s even an Optional Dark Horse Appearance package that adds Recaro seats.
Ford hasn’t announced the Dark Horse’s price yet, but we expect that information closer to its sale date. Production of the Mustang will begin in the United States sometime this summer. When Ford revealed the Dark Horse last year, it was known that carbon fiber wheels would be available late, so they may not be ready for use when the Dark Horse starts rolling off the assembly line.
