When I think of the power of today’s most sophisticated sports cars, I immediately think of the fact that cars have no limits and that in a short time reaching 1,000 hp will be an essential requirement to be considered a supercar of great character. Fortunately, this is not the case, or at least it is shown by cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a model of arms to take which is separated by just 1 second from the current fastest production car around the Nürburgringthe Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and its 200 CV more than the one in Stuttgart.
Thus, the GT3 RS has stopped the stopwatch in 6:49.328 minutes on the longest green hell setting and at 6.44.848 minutes on the “short” setting. These figures are not record, but the truth is that it is just over a second behind the aforementioned AMG GT Black Series, which holds the fastest time with laps of 6:48.047 and 6:43.616 respectively.

It would not be an assessment to make the little difference in time between both cars if it weren’t for the abysmal difference in power that we found between these. The GT3 RS, meanwhile, boasts a six-cylinder naturally aspirated 4.0-liter boxer that delivers 525 hp and 425 Nm of torque to sign a 0 to 100 in 3.2 seconds and reach a top of 296 km / h.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, in addition to being more expensive and exclusive, uses a fireproof 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that develops 730 hp and 800 Nm of torquefigures that catapult it up to 100 km/h also in 3.2 seconds and that allow it to reach a top speed of 325 km/h.
But the 911 GT3 RS has not only come very close to snatching the supercar from the star, but has also unseated other great rivals. Without going any further it has been faster than the Lamborghini Aventador SVJLet us remember that, before the Black Series came on the scene -I am not counting the GT2 RS MR because of its aftermarket parts-, it was the undisputed record holder at the Nürburgring with a time of 6:44.97 minutes.
But where does the secret of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS lie? In a very worked aerodynamics and in a very low weight that causes the weight-power ratio to be ideal. To this we must add the DRS system to adjust the angle of the spoiler on the fly and the presence of controls on the steering wheel to adjust the rebound and compression of the suspension, the incidence of the differential and the permissiveness of the traction control to pleasure.
