In January 2021 the Renault 5 made an unexpected return as an electric concept for a future production model. But now, the French brand announces the return of another well-known vehicle. The new Concept Car officially known as the Renault 4ever Trophy, it will be a B-segment EV that gets its name from the 4L Trophy humanitarian rally through the Moroccan desert. The annual event reserved for Renault 4 automobiles celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2023, bringing the company with the diamond logo to celebrate the milestone with this robust showcar bound for Paris. Painted Gun Metal Silver, it rides on 19-inch wheels wrapped in 255/55 R19 tires.
The power train is electric and generates 134 Hp in a much larger vehicle than its predecessor. Extending to 4,160 millimeters (163.7 inches) long and 1,950 millimeters (76.7 inches) wide, the French manufacturer says it will be a car with the same market positioning as the subcompact crossover. captured. With a height of 1,900 mm (74.8 inches), the Renault 4ever Trophy it has ample ground clearance and square wheel arches. Concrete images of the interior have not yet been provided, but the much longer body compared to the classic model will provide more legroom in the rear.
The use of a dedicated electric platform (CMF-BEV) means that the wheelbase can be maximized after removing the front and rear overhangs. The original R4 features short tailgates, while its modern equivalent looks much more purposeful.
It has been designed to accommodate a 42 kWh battery pack mounted between the axles and has a range of approximately 402 km (250 miles). The front-mounted electric motor is good at going from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under nine seconds. Don’t expect some of the concept’s features on the final model, like in-wheel air compressors, a carbon-fiber roof rack, a reinforced underbody, or all that thick body cladding.
Prior to its market launch almost three years from now, the Renault 4ever Trophy is on display at the Paris Motor Show alongside the new 5.
