Following the reveal of the Astra GSe last month, Opel is doubling down on its “big electric sport” offerings with the new Grandland GSe 2023. Specifically, it is about the Hybrid4 version with a new name. In the future, this will be marketed as Grandland GSe sitting next to hatchback and the Astra GSe station wagon. The compact crossover combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a pair of electric motors generating a total power of 296 Hp. All this electrified force allows to send to the model of all wheel drive to 62 mph (100 km/h) in about 6.1 seconds before reaching a 146mph max (235 km/h). In electric mode, the top speed is 84 mph (135 km/h).
Just like him Astra GSe, which features a retuned suspension and recalibrated steering that improves handling and offers a more dynamic ride. The Grandland GSe has pUntales McPherson at the front and a multi-link rear with stiffer springs and dampers that benefit from Koni’s Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology. The sports PHEV it sits on 19-inch wheels with a design derived from the alloys fitted to the rad Manta GSe concept.
To differentiate it from the regular versions of Grandland, the hood can optionally be painted black to match the roof and side mirror covers. the variant GSe it also sports a bespoke rear diffuser and a special badge on the tailgate. As far as the interior is concerned, the seats are lined in Alcantara and provide greater lateral support.
GSe is replacing GSi as the German brand prepares for the electric age. It will arrive sooner than you might think, as parent company Stellantis has pledged to discontinue the models Opel/Vauxhall with combustion engines Europe by 2028. And, just two years later, all of the automotive conglomerate’s brands in Europe will have electric-only lineups.
