The chinese cars they have come to stay. At the moment, they not only offer qualitatively competitive products, but they do so at a lower price than European brands can – or want – to offer. We already saw it clearly in the MG ZS, whose gasoline version is still on sale for less than 13,000 euros. This time we come to talk about a larger SUV, similar to a Toyota RAV4 by positioning and with great equipment. With a big difference, yes: it is on offer for only 22,990 euros.
We talk about MG HS, in its access gasoline version. A price comparable to that of a compact generalist with modest equipment, and well below the entry price of all its rivals in the SUV segment. The MG HS on offer is a medium SUV of 4.58 meters in length and five seats. It is 2 cm shorter than a Toyota RAV4, but it is considerably longer than a SEAT Ateca or a Hyundai Tucson. The engine of the offered version is a 1.5 Turbo GDI, a direct injection turbocharged gasoline and 162 hp of power
In this Comfort version, the upholstery is made of synthetic leather and the wheels are 17 inches.
It is an engine developed by SAIC, and allows the car to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, with an average consumption of 7.4 l/100 km. In this version of access, the change is manual, six relations. Car lacks hybridization, so you must settle for a C label from the DGT. We have not yet been able to test it, so we do not know what the qualities of its interior are like. On a visual level, it presents finishes similar to those of the MG ZS, with a little more packaging in certain areas. We should not expect segment-leading quality at this point.
On a practical level, it has a 463-litre boot, which is below average of the segment in cargo volume. However, its equipment is very complete. The version on offer includes digital instrumentation, a 10.1″ screen for the infotainment system, a parking camera with dynamic guides, cruise control or automatic climate control. Driving assistance is part of the MG Pilot package as standardincluding lane departure warning, cross traffic alert or standstill vehicle monitoring.

What is really impressive about the MG HS is that its price is much lower than that of its most direct rivals. The Toyota RAV4, the SEAT Tarraco or the Peugeot 5008 are at least 13,000 euros more expensive in their basic versions. The price of 22,990 euros includes a launch promotion of 4,000 euros, and discounts for financing the purchase of the vehicle. The price does not include registration or pre-delivery costs, it is valid for units in stock, only until December 31 and only for units painted in white.
