As we always tell you, in these times it is difficult to find good prices on the purchase of new vehicles. Prices have skyrocketed, and it’s unfortunately easy to see double-digit percentage increases so far this year. But looking around, analyzing offers and reading the small print, opportunities still exist. This is the case of the car that stars in this article. A very practical, well equipped and powerful urban crossover, at a price that is 3,000 euros less to the Skoda Kamiq, one of the references of the segment.
We could be talking about an MG ZS, but this time we are talking about the SsangYong Tivoli. Its current generation was launched on the market in 2019, and although it has been on sale for only 13,100 euros – before the pandemic – at the moment it is still one of the cheapest urban crossovers on the market. Currently it is for sale for 16,900 euros. The version offered is a version in Urban Plus finish, with G12T mechanics. Behind this name hides a three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine, with 1.2 liters and 128 hp.
The SsangYong Tivoli is a rare car, but it is great value for money.
This motor is associated with a six-speed manual gearbox and in addition to being relatively powerful – it drops from 0 to 100 km/h in 10 seconds – it is 33 hp more powerful than the access mechanics of the Skoda Kamiq, and more powerful than almost all its rivals. Their combined consumption, with 7.0 l/100 km, is also somewhat above the market average. Without going into its design, this crossover of only 4.20 meters boasts a 427 liter trunk volume and a spacious passenger compartment, especially in its rear seats.
Its finishes have improved considerably compared to the first generation, as has its driving feel, which is still more oriented towards comfort than dynamism. The version offered is a Urban Plus access finish. Even being the access step it is a car well-appointed: Its 16-inch wheels and air conditioning are joined by speed control and an 8-inch touch screen, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Of course, this version lacks the digital instrumentation of other finishes.
If we do not deliver a car of the brand, the price will continue to be a competitive 17,900 euros.
Fortunately, the SASS active safety system is standard, and includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, forward vehicle warning, fatigue warning and safety distance alert. To access the price of 16,900 euros you have to finance the purchase of the vehicle, and in addition, this promotional price includes 1,000 euros loyalty discount. This discount will only be possible if we deliver a vehicle of the brand to the dealer when buying a new Tivoli.
All in all, even without that additional 1,000 euros of discount, it is still a car very competitive in terms of price and equipment. The particular conditions of the financing must be discussed with the SsangYong dealer, and they are not detailed on their Spanish website. There is a possibility that this engine runs on LPG. This offered version is gasoline, and only has a C label.
