Reliability is possibly one of the most important aspects that we should consider when buying a car, which is why it is so important to know which car brands are the most reliable and the ones that will therefore less force us to go through the workshop. Y Consumer Reports already has its 2022 reliability report readyfinding more than one interesting surprise when discovering which manufacturers and which cars are the ones that suffer the most and the fewest breakdowns.
Although the report prepared by Consumer Reports focuses on the US market, the truth is that The results obtained serve as a reference since many of the brands and some models analyzed are also marketed in Europe.. The association bases its study on consulting its members, obtaining data from more than 300,000 cars, differentiating faults through 17 different sections and obtaining a final score between 0-100 depending on the number of faults listed in each model throughout of the last 12 months.
The sample also collects data on cars manufactured between 2000 and 2022, ruling out in this ranking those brands for which Consumer Reports has not been able to obtain enough data for different models of its range. Thus, in this 2022 reliability report, brands such as Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Mini, Mitsubishi, Polestar, Porsche or Rivian have been left out. Had all of these brands been included, the final results of this study would almost certainly have been very different.
As a curiosity, this study highlights the high reliability of the hybrids and plug-in hybrids analyzed
That being said, and reflecting the score obtained below, The ten most trusted brands according to Consumer Reports have been Toyota (72), Lexus (72), BMW (65), Mazda (65), Honda (62), Audi (60), Subaru (59), Acura (57), Kia (54) and Lincoln (54). On the other hand, if we go to the opposite side of this ranking, we find that the least reliable brands have been Volkswagen, Jeep and Mercedes-Benz, closing the list with a score of 31, 30 and 26 points respectively. In total, 24 different car brands have been analyzed.
The most common faults have to do with software, technology and driving assistance. Less complex and equipped cars get a clear advantage here
And if we go deeper into this study to talk about specific models, the five most reliable cars on the market have been the Toyota Corolla (93), the Lexus GX (91), the MINI Cooper (89), the Toyota Prius (89) and the Mazda MX-5 (85). On the contrary, the five least reliable models in this study, ordered from most to least reliable, have been the Ford Explorer (16), the Nissan Sentra (9), the Lincoln Aviator (8), the Hyundai Kona Electric (5) and the Ford F-150 Electric (4),
