Lamborghini Aventador RC Car Turns Into A Functional Drone

Posted on

There has been no shortage of flying car concepts throughout history. Marrying cars and planes has been a long-promised dream, but building them and keeping them safe is no easy task. People struggle to handle the road vehicles produced by today’s automakers, and adding flight capability to their complexity isn’t going to help.

Flying cars have been promised for decades. While there are always rumors of the next big thing and lots of ideas out there vying for investment dollars, they haven’t turned into a viable product for the masses. However, flying cars on a smaller scale are possible, as a new video from the Make Your OWN Creation YouTube channel demonstrates.

Its creation began with the red Lamborghini Aventador RC car. It only requires a few parts for flight, such as rotors, electric motor and mounting hardware. The plastic rotors are painted red along with the support structure to match the car’s exterior, which attaches to the wingtips that fasten to the Lamborghini doors. A small hole under each wing allows the cables to reach the car’s cabin.

Hot glue fuses an electric motor with a support structure – three on each side for a total of six. Solder connects the wires between the rotors, and solder attaches the rotor to the motor control board of the remote-controlled helicopter. It sneaks into the cabin.

The last part of the build adds a tail for stability, but the makeshift glyph is far from stable and doesn’t fly well. The car tilts, bobs, and twists without getting too high off the ground. It retains the normal RC controls of its car, making it capable of driving on the ground as well. The video description has a list of parts required for manufacture, all of which were purchased from Amazon.

A little ingenuity and a few pieces can create something new and neat. A Lamborghini drone won’t be as stable or easy to fly as a custom drone, but the goal of such a creation isn’t about the finished product but the journey to build it.
