There’s good news for people who live in areas where right-hand drive rules the road because here’s a Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray with the steering wheel on the “wrong” side. Although, this one is actually being tested in the United States near General Motors’ Milford Proving Grounds.
Other than the steering wheel location, the E-Ray looks like any other hybrid development vehicle from the previous spy shots. It has wider rear fenders than the Z06 but the exhaust outlets are on the outside corners instead of out the center.

We already know a lot about the E-Ray’s design from a leak in early December. The online configurator is early and reveals the interior and exterior. It is available in three paint colors: Cacti, Riptide Blue Metallic, and Sea-Wolf Gray Tri-Coat. Inside, there’s a button that seems to activate the regenerative braking system. The cabin has no other significant changes.
The E-Ray reportedly uses a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8 that produces up to 495 horsepower (369 kilowatts) in a standard Corvette. One or two motors allegedly power the front axle, giving this Corvette all-wheel drive. Total power output could be around 695 horsepower (484 kilowatts), according to a leak.
Battery details are still a mystery. We know E-Ray is not a plug-in hybrid, which would limit package size. This system may still offer enough power for several miles of pure electric drive.
In terms of the Corvette lineup, the E-Ray allegedly takes the place of the Grand Sport. This means it will be more aggressive than the standard model but not as track-oriented as the Z06.
Configurator leaks suggest the E-Ray goes on sale in the summer of 2023. Generally, Chevy launches new models months before deliveries actually begin. This means that the debut could be very soon. Pricing is still a mystery, but its starting figure will almost certainly outperform the base model Corvette.
