The Mini Multitone Roof Looks Much Better As A Special Edition Model

Posted on

Mini has been known to introduce several special edition models for its cars, and that’s in addition to a collection of customizations that can be applied to their vehicles at the time of purchase. Among the ones you can customize, the Mini roof is usually where owners can express themselves in various ways (like the 26 striped Paul Smith Mini version).

Last year, the British automaker introduced the Multitone roof featuring three colors, brought together in a gradient fashion. Now, the automaker has expanded that offering and turned it into a full-fledged special edition model called the Multitone Edition.

Unlike last year’s version of the Multitone that plagued the roof and the Cooper SE, the new Multitone Edition comes with exclusive design elements on the exterior and interior. Special edition models are also offered for the Hardtop 3-Door, Hardtop 5-Door, and Clubman.

The Multitone roof starts from the front glass frame to the rear. However, the Mini changes the colors it uses to Aspen White on the front, Melting Silver II in the middle, and Jet Black on the back. For what it’s worth, we think it looks better than the bluish hue from the previous Multitone roof.

As mentioned, the Mini Multitone Edition comes with details that are exclusive to the special edition model. These are found on the side scuttles, C-pillars, and wheel caps on the outside. In the cabin, the Multitone lettering and rainbow insignia are found on the door frames and floor mats, as well as throughout the dashboard – on the sun visor, steering wheel and customized lock covers.

Mini claims that every Multitone Edition vehicle is unique, albeit in subtle ways. To achieve this, the company uses a wet-on-wet painting process where three shades of color are applied directly one after the other. Due to changing environmental conditions, variations in color patterns may occur.
