Michael Leiters, the newly appointed CEO of McLarenstopped deliveries of artura upon arrival a few months ago to fix quality issues. No less than 164 vehicles could have this problem and will need to visit the dealer to have it fixed.

The problem comes from the nuts used for high pressure fuel piping. Over time, you are could come loosewhich would trigger a fuel leakand in the worst case, a fire would break out.

According to the security recall report of the NHTSA: “If the nut becomes loose, the seal between the flared end of the fuel line and the sealing cone at the pump outlet may break, causing the release of fuel. The flared end of the fuel line is located near engine components that have a high operating temperature. If fuel is released near these components, it could cause thermal activity.”

Of the aforementioned 164 vehicles affected by the recall, McLaren spokesman Roger Ormisher told Automotive News that less than 50 have been delivered to the clients. Most of the vehicles are either press vehicles or currently serving as demos at dealerships. USA. In order to fix the problem, the high pressure fuel lines will need to be replaced.

Quality problems

Earlier in the month, Michael Leiters, admitted that “immature” products had been brought to market in the past, but no longer: “We saw that the car (Artura) was not mature, so we stopped deliveries. We already had a significant backlog on our production line at the time and we reduced (production) to zero (cars) per day to fix our quality issues.”

The supercar was originally unveiled in February 2021 and has since spawned two track-only derivatives that take the form of a GT4 and a Trophy. The latter will compete in the one-make McLaren Trophy Championship the following year which will serve as a support series for GT World Challenge Europe.
