USA: Cars trapped in a sea of ​​ice in New Jersey due to freezing temperatures (+ Video)

Freezing temperatures and flooding in the United States combined for an unpleasant surprise in the state of New Jersey: a handful of vehicles were trapped in the sea ice.

According to CBS 2 New York, the scene is the result of storms that arrived on Thursday and brought precipitation. Consequently, the Hudson River it flooded and filled some parts of the parking lot with water. Then the temperatures dropped and the cars were ice covered.

The number of cars trapped is unknown, but images show several being flooded to the top of their wheels. Between the vehicles there is a Mercedes E320 2001, a Jeep Wrangler, a Mazda and a semi-truck. There is also an Audi with the airbag deployed.

The aforementioned outlet spoke with one of the owners, who said that he could not contact his insurance company as it was a holiday weekend. However, it is unlikely that the insurer will cover these types of problems.

On that, it is not clear how much longer the vehicles will remain on the ice. Temperatures are forecast to rise as high as 10º this weekend, so the cars are likely to be released from their icy grave, but the damage caused could be severe.
