If you’re a fan of retro modifications to modern vehicles, check out what Alpine Style has brought to the Tokyo Auto Salon. Carica took a Toyota Hiace van and made it look like something the Scooby Doo gang would drive. The Havana started out as the Toyota Raize but has a nose with a slightly similar appearance to the old school Chevrolet Blazer.

The name Carica is a portmanteau of “California Dreaming Car”, which was the inspiration for this Toyota van modification. Alpine Style presents it in two forms. The US Style show car was a two-tone teal and white body with chrome parts for the grille, bumper, mirror caps, rear trim and wheels. In contrast, the Euro Style variant has a metal bumper and black accents on the rest of the exterior.
The interior flaunts Alpine technology. There is an 11-inch infotainment screen, a 12-inch digital mirror and a 12.8-inch screen for rear seat passengers. Improved stereo includes lighting around the tweeters. There’s a bed to set up in the back of the van and an expandable tent for overnight camping.
Havana
The appearance of the Havana takes inspiration from old vehicles that are still circulating in the Cuban capital. The new grille, light surrounds and bumper get chrome parts. Underneath the four square headlamps are LED running lights and blinkers.
Inside, Alpine includes a 9.0-inch infotainment screen and 12-inch digital mirrors. The view for the people behind is optional. The company also improved the stereo.
As well as displaying these vehicles at the Alpine booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon, the company is also taking orders for these models at the event. The initial estimated price for Carica is 4.98 million yen ($38,608 at current exchange rates), and Havana should have a base price of around 3.98 million yen ($30,855), according to Car Watch Impress.
