Bentley Mulliner Batur Teaser Promises The Most Powerful W12 Version

Posted on

The new teaser for the Bentley Mulliner Batur teaser gives us a proper first look at the limited-run model. We can now see that the Batur is a classic grand-touring coupe with a long bonnet and flowing roofline. The vehicle will premiere during Monterey Car Week at 20:00 local time on Saturday, August 20.

Batur had one wheel in the past and another in the future. Bentley says the vehicle showcases the design language for the brand’s future electric vehicles. However, this is not an EV. In contrast, the coupe has the most powerful version ever of the 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine. The company has not disclosed those figures. The variant in Bacalar produces 650 horsepower (485 kilowatts) and 667 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque.

Bentley also promises that Batur has “the most advanced chassis system ever” from the company. Beyond this vague statement, the company does not offer any additional details. Looking closely at the design of the vehicle, it appears that there is a separate panel at the base of the rear windshield, and this part may hide the active spoiler.

Bentley will build each Batur by hand, and buyers are free to choose colors and finishes throughout the cabin and exterior. They can choose from sustainable materials such as natural fiber composites and low CO2 leather. Plus, there’s 3d-printed 18 carat gold.

Bentley’s previous teaser for Batur showed a glimpse of the grille. This puts the brand’s flying B badge high on the nose. Beneath it is a chrome grille with a V-shaped mesh pattern.

Bentley positioned Batur as the successor to the open-top Bacalar. The company only makes 12 of them. Handcrafted production and a high degree of customization mean each car takes six months to produce. Each had a cost of £1.5 million (about $1.9 million at the then exchange rate).

Batur’s appearance will affect the look of the Bentley EV which will premiere in 2025. Company boss Adrian Hallmark hints the electric model can produce as much as 1,400 hp (1,044 kW).
