BFGoodrich has been producing all-terrain tires for decades. The off-road racing legend has supported many teams in their quest for Baja glory. Now, in 2026, BFG looks back at the age of the Radial All-Terrain T/A tire, which is 50 years old.
First launched in 1976, the Radial All-Terrain T/A tire quickly became an icon of off-pavement adventure. When you see white writing around the side of the tire, you know you have the right equipment to support your equipment.

BFGoodrich immediately took to desert racing after developing this tire. Lessons learned during the 1976 Baja 1000 translated into class wins the following year. And just ten years later, BFG captured its first overall win in the 1986 Baja 1000.
Fast forward to today, and you’ll find the words “Baja Champion” printed on the side of all BFG all-terrain tires. BFGoodrich also rounds out its off-road portfolio with more focused options. You have HD-Terrains for larger applications. The KM3 is a brilliant mud terrain tire. And there is also a special race version of this tire.
The popularity of all-terrain tires has made the BFGoodrich name synonymous with off-road excellence. Various versions of the all-terrain tire have won multiple classes at the Baja 1000. In fact, in 2010, the tire manufacturer recorded its 70th overall SCORE win with a win at Mexico’s legendary desert race.

The 5th generation T/A All-Terrain Radial Tire arrives in 2024. Dubbed the KO3, it builds on the success and performance of the previous KO2.
Tire technology has advanced significantly in the five decades since the first T/A and KO3. Success in motorsports allows engineers to develop their consumer products, which in turn allows companies like BFGoodrich to celebrate 50 years of great tire manufacturing.
