Bimota Tera: Sport-Trail with electronically height-adjustable chassis

Posted on

It is this type of thing that I love to see, news that talks about how a brand has hit the table and innovated to bring out something different, something out of the ordinary that could mean a before and after in the industry. the motorcycles.

In this case and to put ourselves in context a bit, Bimota is a manufacturer that now belongs to Kawasaki, But this was not always so. Bimota was once a Japanese motorcycle tuner that focused on developing and modifying chassis for improve the cycle part of these motorcycles. For this reason it makes a lot of sense that they are the ones who are encouraged to go for the manufacture of this new height-adjustable chassis.

And that’s where the name of the model comes from, “Tera” is the acronym for “TEsi Regolazione dell’Altezza”. With this new type of chassis, the rider will be able to electronically modify the height that the motorcycle has. Although it is true that there are already motorcycles that do something similar with the rear suspension Like the BMW R1200GS/1250GS, this type of chassis modifies the height en bloc, that is to say that change it both from the front and from the backsomething that does not happen with the other motorcycles.

This allows the pilot choose whether you want the bike to be more agile and direct in tight corners and “mousetraps” or prefer more stability in fast corners. The new TERA is a Trail type, although it will be a very asphalt Trail that we could put in the same bag as the BMW S1000XR.

The engine, the electrical system, the instrumentation and the radar system all come (of course) from Kawasaki. But if we see which models, we get an idea of what Bimota wants with this bike. The engine comes from the H2 SX, yields 200 hp And of course, with the right grip of this bike, it will have more than enough response. The electrical system and instrumentation come from the H2, and the radar system again comes from the H2 SX.

Of course, they have not chosen the donor bikes badly.

There are still no images other than the chassis, so we will have to wait and see what Bimota brings us, but we can imagine that aspectually, the lines that we will find will be a hybrid between the Ninja H2 and the Versys 1000. I look forward to I’m looking forward to seeing how this all ends. It has occurred to me to do a rookie render between both bikes, and what has come out is not bad at all, so I allow myself the luxury (since I have not found any other render of what this bike could be) to put it here. What do you think.
