Can you pass the ITV in another community to save?

Posted on

A few months ago, ‘FACUA-Consumers in action’ prepared a report in which it revealed that the differences in the price of ITV can reach 185.4% in the case of gasoline cars and 116.1% If it is a diesel vehicle: it all depends on the autonomous community in which the inspection is carried out. Such a disparity raises a logical question: Can I go to another region to pass the ITV to save a few euros?

The budget that drivers allocate to their vehicles is increasingly higher due to the inflation that the country is experiencing. For some time now we have given you a series of tips to minimize the impact of this phenomenon on the economy of your car. Today we are going to do the same with a procedure that we cannot avoid: pass the ITV. Remember that Circulating with it expires implies a fine of 200 euros.

The normative

Is it possible to pass the ITV in an autonomous community other than yours? Yes. The regulations establish that this procedure it can be carried out “at any station regardless of the Autonomous Community or province where the vehicle is registered or resides”. Taking into account that we can do it up to 30 days before its expiration without losing expiration days, it is possible that in the first days of December or at Christmas you want to take advantage of a getaway or a trip to your second residence to save with the ITV.

How much does the ITV cost in Spain?

Going back to the ‘FACUA-Consumers in Action’ report, the average price of ITV in Spain is €35.98 for gasoline passenger cars (3.6% more than in 2021) and €43.51 for those with a diesel engine (4.3% more than the previous year). These figures include VAT (IGIC in the Canary Islands and IPSI in Ceuta and Melilla), but not the 4.18 euros of the Traffic tax.

Where are the cheapest ITV?

These figures are average amounts, which can change from one season to another: hence the differences can be as high as 185.4% and 116.1%. Taking this into account, the same study reveals where the cheapest ITV are: take note because some of them may be close and you can save up to 15 euro. You must, yes, do the math to verify that the transfer there is profitable for the investment of time and fuel.
