Chevrolet Equinox 2023 offers many features, including a myriad of safety tech, heated power side mirrors, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and LED headlights with auto high-beam functionality.
According to some experts in the automotive world, the Chevrolet Equinox is bland and innocuous compared to the many compact SUVs with which it competes, including stellar models such as Mazda CX-50 2023, 2023 Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan 2022 Y 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. That hasn’t stopped Equinox from being one of the best sellers in this great class.

What’s new from Chevrolet Equinox 2023
- For the 2023 model year, the Chevrolet Equinox sees only minor changes, including a 5-horsepower gain for the 1.5-liter turbo, bringing it up to 175 ponies; torque remains the same at 203 pound-feet of twist
2023 Chevrolet Equinox: Features
The Equinox’s design is harmless; a minor update to its appearance was implemented for the 2022 model year and it was slightly improved. It offers a generously sized interior with plenty of room for passengers and plenty of cargo space.
Underneath is a chassis that’s more frisky than you’d expect, but the Equinox’s anemic turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder puts a limit on the amount of driving pleasure you can get from the roughly 3,650-pound crossover.
Chevrolet Equinox engine, transmission and performance
The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine won’t win over any fans with its sluggish performance, and it’s the only offering for the Equinox. The boosted I-4 makes 175 horsepower, and when combined with the optional four-wheel drive system, it takes a heavy foot to get the Equinox up to highway speeds.
It’s nice and easy to drive, it handles competently, and its steering is precise and direct. Still, the ride can be rough at times, particularly with the optional 19-inch wheels (17 or 18 are standard), and the rougher stretches of road impart some discomfort to the cabin.
2023 Chevrolet Equinox: Real World Fuel Economy and MPG
The EPA estimates the front-wheel drive Equinox will get 26 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. Adding all-wheel drive lowers the ratings by 2 and 1 mpg, respectively.

Chevrolet Equinox interior, comfort and cargo
Its cabin is nicely styled and made of durable materials. Both front and rear seat passengers should feel comfortable in the spacious interior, with enough amenities to keep them happy on longer trips.
The cabin features plenty of cup holders, but most interior luxuries are offered as optional equipment on LT models or as standard content on RS and Premier models.
- Some rivals offer more space behind the rear seats
Chevrolet Equinox 2023: Infotainment and Connectivity
A 7.0-inch touchscreen displays Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment interface on the Equinox’s dash; the system continues to impress with its ease of use and quick responses.
Apple Car Play Y Android Auto are standard, as are Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, USB connectivity, and an auxiliary input jack.
2023 Chevrolet Equinox Safety and Driver Assistance Features
Chevrolet Equinox earned a five-star rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), but it was not named a top safety pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Key security features include:
- Standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Available adaptive cruise control
2023 Chevrolet Equinox Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Chevy’s basic warranty package is just that, basic, but so is its competitors’ coverage. Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportsage 2023 offer longer protection plans.
- Limited warranty covers 3 years or 36,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles
- Complimentary maintenance is covered for the first visit
