The Internal Revenue Service (SII)gave a statement about high-value vehicles that must pay a surcharge for this year 2023 together with the deadlines.

What is the surcharge that must be paid for high-value cars?

The Internal Revenue Service (SII) reported that as of this year 2023 a surcharge will be applied to high-value cars, planes, helicopters and yachts.

This measure will affect owners who are “natural or legal persons, whose assets are located in the national territory as of December 31, 2022”.

The tax on airplanes, helicopters, yachts and high-value cars corresponds to an annual tax with a tax benefit of 2%, which will be applied to the Current Price in Market (PCP) of the goods.

The people affected must make the payment from the month of April of this year 2023within the framework of the Income Operation. They will be notified by email or certified letter.

Will govern for:

1. Helicopters: Manned, weighing more than 160 kilos, whose current market price is equal to or greater than 122 UTA ($90 million, approximately).

2. Planes: Manned, weighing more than 160 kilos, whose current price in the market is equal to or greater than 122 UTA.

3. Yachts: Whose current price in the market is equal to or greater than 122 UTA and whose registration corresponds to this qualification according to the current regulations of the General Directorate of Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine (DIRECTEMAR).

4. Vehicles, station wagons and similar cars: Whose current market price is equal to or greater than 62 UTA ($46 million, approximately).

*UTA: Annual Tax Unit (UTMx12), its current value is $741,228.


They will be exempt from paying this tax. the Treasury, municipalities, companies that develop activities such as: real estate, industry, commerce, mining, exploitation of marine resources, airlines, insurance, banks, financial companies, construction, journalistic, advertising, radio broadcasting, television.
