Government of Chile will begin to lower toll prices with the most expensive in the country

The Chilean government will advance in a year the reduction of the toll in the itata road, the most expensive in the country, as confirmed this Tuesday Juan Carlos Garcia, Minister of Public Works. This measure could come into force in mid-2023.

According to the local press, the rate for vans and cars is 4,710 pesos, but if the measure is implemented it would be 2900 for smaller cars.

«I discussed with the governors of Ñuble and Bío Bío the painful fact that we had the most expensive highway in Chile here«, commented the Secretary of State for his time in Concepción. “It generated a territorial injustice that needed to be corrected”he added.

The toll rate on the aforementioned route has been frozen since this year, but now, according to the head of Public Works, both governors determined to advance the reductiona, and would start running from next year.

As of 2023, the toll equivalent to the route Cabrero-Concepción will cost 2,900 pesos.

García explained that the measure responds to the National Toll Plan that is being addressed as a Public Works Mystery. In turn, he clarified that “All the contracts that we have in the State are readjustable, based on the CPI”said.

Finally, the minister confirmed that they will add new safety standards to the highway.
