Apart from automotive manufacturers, this year’s Consumer Electronics Show also presents several technology companies. Harman, Samsung’s automotive technology subsidiary, was also showcased at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas with a number of products now ready for OEM integration. Among them is a new augmented reality head-up display, as well as several other interesting features.

What Harman calls Ready Vision serves as an alternative to the increasing number of screens in modern vehicles. It takes the form of a large color head-up display with traditional hardware with a borderless display and a wide field of view. New here is augmented reality software, which provides “the right content, at the right time, with the right level of visual detail”. Or, simply put, Harman just wants to provide information to the driver while driving in a form that is easy to read and understand.

Another exciting new technology from the company is Harman Ready Care which is described as “the industry’s first closed-loop interior” which follows the driver’s level of focus and attention on the road. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, the system compares driver behavior between focused and distracted states and provides alerts to help drivers overcome dangerous road situations. Interestingly, there is a sensor that measures the contactless driver’s vital signs to determine his health condition.

Other new safety features are the so-called Sound and Vibration Sensors and External Microphone, which detect emergency vehicle sirens, broken glass and vehicle collisions, among others. External microphones can be used for communication between passengers and emergency vehicles.

Harman’s new technology can be seen on the company’s booth during CES 2023. The company says all of its new features can work independently or can be integrated into the general environment to provide greater security. Each innovation has been designed to meet automotive industry standards and is ready to be installed into all types of vehicles, including EVs.
