The Hyundai Veloster N is a fast vehicle, and had a competition with the Volkswagen Golf R answering questions about who is faster. It happened during a straight line drag race.
Edmunds’ video shows the state-of-the-art Veloster N against a Golf R based on Golf eighth generation. Both are compact vehicles powered by a turbocharged four cylinder 2.0-litre, but the German has a clear advantage.
The Golf R is more powerful and also has Traction on the four wheels, which meant he has a big polecat during release. The Golf R generates 315 HP and 295 pound-feet of torque, sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual transmission.
For his part, the Veloster N produces 275 HP and 260 ib-ft of traction, with transmission DGT of eight changes that sends the power to the front axle. It also has a N Grin Shift button which increases torque to 278 lb-ft.

Despite this, the advantage of power and AWD make the German model have an advantage. The ace up the sleeve of the South Korean car is its weight: almost 300 pounds less.
In the video you can see who is the winner of ato drag race in U: standing start plus a hard U-turn and then a rolling run.
It’s worth mentioning that the Veloster N is more affordable than the Golf R. That’s a trick for some people.
