Among the many magnificent vehicles that graced this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is a brand new concept car from Lincoln that is not to be missed. The L100 model is a long, low and sleek fastback that pays homage to the automaker’s luxury past while providing a glimpse into the future of luxury automotive at Lincoln.
The 1922 L model is specifically named among the vehicles that the L100 Concept drew inspiration from. Granted, we don’t see much in common between the two, except for the two rows of seats and the long wheelbase. As an electric vehicle, the L100 Concept certainly needs a slick form in order to glide better through the air, and that comes in spades with its broad, organic build.
If that’s not enough to attract attention, the car opens up in a grand manner. The two doors swing out on reverse hinges, though in this case, door basically means everything from the front fender to the rear. The roof is also raised, making getting in and out for passengers very easy. And honestly, with all that goes into it, the concept looks pretty cool.

Once you’re there, the lack of driving control or instrumentation becomes apparent. Lincoln sees the Model L100 as a fully autonomous vehicle, and as such, it offers an interior that can be configured to meet the needs of passengers. Everyone can face forward, or the front seats can be rotated to create a face-to-face atmosphere. The center console includes an interactive screen which, among other things, includes a chessboard. However, it’s not the only digital item in the cockpit. The floors are also digital, and the interior is filled with lighting features that all combine to create a shelter for passengers.
With this being a pure concept vehicle, there are no statistics available regarding range, speed, or other performance metrics. it’s purely an exercise in design, much like the company’s Anniversary concept that debuted last year. Of course, that doesn’t mean some of the ideas explored in the Model L100 can’t end up being filtered into production vehicles.
