Mazda MX-30 EV with rotary engine would arrive in the United States (Teaser)

Mazda shared a new video teaser on his YouTube channel where he focuses on the past and future of the firm. The sneak peek also appears to be aimed at the US market due to coming from Mazda USA. Whatever it is, there is little time to find out what it is about because the “Unboxing” will be this Thursday.

The pitas point in only one direction: the MX-30 with rotary motor as range extender for US marking. The debut, initially for Europe, is scheduled for January 13 at the Brussels Motor Show in Belgium. No other markets were mentioned for this presentation.

Now this sneak peek from Mazda USA reveals 2023 MX-30 price and availability in the United States, sold only in California. That being said, the statement does not mention the rotary engine, but the timing of the announcement and the sneak peek is too coincidental to ignore. In fact, the early hours of January 13 in Brussels would be equivalent to January 12 in the US.

As for the teaser, it shows the Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada who walks among a row of iconic Mazda vehicles, some with classic rotary engines. That is Mazda’s past.

The future is represented by a dark room with several black boxes that could contain batteries, a little Wankel to “unpack” the new MX-30 R-EV.

The main point against the Mazda MX-30 is its short range of 100 miles, which would be solved with a rotary engine that extends autonomy.

In any case, the January 12 all will be revealed and coincides with the official debut of the MX-30 R-EV in Belgium.
