The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 SE Performance will debut on Wednesday, September 21, at 16:00 CEST. Prior to the grand opening, the brand had one final teaser. Unfortunately, the shadow image shows less than the last preview. This time, there was only a flash of the tip of the headlights.
Mercedes claims that the new C 63 S outperforms the existing model in terms of power and torque thanks to the use of motorsport-derived hybrid technology. For reference, the current version produces 503 horsepower (375 kilowatts) and 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters) from the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine.

A report from May 2022 suggests the new C 63 S adopts a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine version of the A 45. Plus, an electric motor will power the rear axle. The total combined output of this setup is supposedly 670 hp (500 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm). According to these rumors, the gearbox is a nine-speed automatic with a torque converter. Where the current model is rear-wheel drive, this one will be standard with power flowing to every corner.
To power the hybrid system, the C 63 S allegedly has a 6.1 kilowatt-hour battery. The owner can install it to recharge the package.
One of the big questions before the launch of this new sports sedan was how much it weighed. The four-cylinder powerplant should shed a few pounds versus the outgoing V8. However, the electric motor and battery pack can offset any savings from the smaller engine.
Mercedes has confirmed that the sedan and wagon variants of the C 63 SE Performance will debut on September 21. There will be no coupe or convertible for the new model. Instead, the upcoming CLE-Class will take over that role, in addition to changing the body style of this E-Class.
Following the premiere of the C 63 SE Performance, deliveries are expected to begin in 2023. Then, look for underpowered AMG-branded C-Class offerings to join the lineup, such as the C 43 from the current range.
