Mexico: Two Cubans died in a traffic accident on the Saltillo-Monclava highway, Coahuila

This Wednesday the Cuban Foreign Ministry mourned the death of two compatriots in a traffic accident that occurred last weekend in Mexico. Five other people died.

According to the Cuban Consulate in Mexico, he was given “attention to the families of the victims.

“We convey our heartfelt condolences to the families and relatives of the victims,” the chancellor wrote on Twitter, Bruno Rodriguez, who added that “Cuba reiterates its commitment to safe migration.”

The incident occurred last Friday when a minivan overturned on the Saltillo highway, Coahuila state, according to local media reports. The other deceased were two Ecuadorians, a Mexican.

Only one of the victims from Ecuador has been identified. VerĂłnica Toaquiza, a 23-year-old single mother who was making the irregular migration route to the United States from Quito.


«There are two other injured women and a minor with injuries but out of danger who are being treated at the General Hospital of Saltillo, in the Mexican state of Coahuila de Zaragoza.“says the report.

According to authorities, Cubans turned out to be the second nationality of migrants detained at land borders, only behind Mexicans.
