We have good news and bad news today from Croatia. The image above shows the Barchetta Pagani Zonda’s HP destroyed, but fortunately, no one was injured in the accident that led to this sad scene. That’s the good news. The bad news, obviously, is that the extremely rare Pagani is now badly damaged. And when we say very rarelyit’s one of only three built.
What really happened? Zonda participated in the Supercar Owners Circle event which took place in Croatia. We don’t know the details of the crash, but the video at the top of the article captures it as it occurs. We saw the Apollo IE (also very rarely) go past the camera, with the Zonda HP Barchetta following a little further behind. Neither of the cars seemed to be going fast, but as soon as the Zonda passed, the rear came out. A wide hypercar on a narrow road doesn’t match the oncoming traffic, and the result is a crash that looks bad.

As far as we know, the accident happened on September 2. Images and video clips are popping up on social media; @AStopcars on Instagram is kind enough to share some pictures directly with Motor1.com in the gallery above. Artur Shynkarov is the photographer; he also shot a video afterwards and shared it on Instagram, seen below.

The damage to Pagani looks pretty extensive, with the majority of carnage on the driver’s side. The front and rear wheel wells were crushed, and the impact ripped the rear suspension on the driver’s side completely out of the car. The rear fascia is badly damaged, and this only masks what we can see. Who knows what hidden damage lies beneath the carbon body.
Being extremely rare, the Zonda HP Barchetta is also very valuable. Last we heard, it cost around $17 million so it’s definitely an expensive crash. Given its value and rarity, it’s hard to say what the hypercar’s future will look like, but the engine can be rebuilt. Human, not so much. So while it’s not a good day, it could have been worse.
