The Porsche 718 family has made major performance leaps since its debut, adding the flat-six GTS and GT4/Spyder variants for the Cayman hardtop and droptop Boxster. And in 2023, it will get a similar match on the visual front via the imaginatively named Style Edition. The new trim will reach European dealers first before crossing the pool at some point next year.
The highlight of this package is the exclusive Ruby Star Neo paint, an almost harsh fuchsia color that serves as the main complement to Porsche’s excellent Frozen Berry Metallic. Porsche says it’s a tribute to the 964 Carrera RS’ Ruby Star, proving once again that the automaker’s back catalog is home to some incredible exterior colors.
Joining the Style Edition are the 20-inch alloy wheels of the 718 Boxster Spyder, with glossy black as standard, though for our money the white is even tidier. To get to that, you’ll need to opt for one of the contrast packs, which color the back and wheel badges in black or white and add over-the-top stripes and traditional PORSCHE door decals to match. The black center exhaust exhaust completes the exterior aesthetic.
In the cabin, black upholstery is paired with standard Chalk contrast stitching, an embossed Porsche badge on the headrests, and illuminated door frames. The list of standard equipment is also a bit more robust, with standard active front lighting, a sports exhaust system, heated front seats, and front and rear parking sensors. Power, however, remains unchanged, with each styling edition carrying the standard 718 turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four. Output matches the base model at 300 pounds and 280 pound-feet of torque. The 718 Style Editions are available with a dual-clutch gearbox or a six-speed manual.
Porsche hasn’t shared pricing yet, as the 718 Style Editions go on sale in Europe early next year. The US automaker’s arm did not share the timing of the North American sale other than saying it would be in 2023.
