Porsche’s second big step in electric mobility is already underway. From the hands of a new all-electric Porsche Macanthe German firm begins to reveal the keys to what will be the second generation of its battery-electric propulsion technology, a new evolution that promises to improve what has already been seen in the Taycan in performance, efficiency and behavior. With that being said, let’s find out. What will Porsche’s most anticipated electric SUV be like?.

At Porsche, the development tests of the new Macan are culminating, a model that will have a fully electric version for the first time. Built on a completely new platform called PPE (Premium Platform Electric) that has been developed by Porsche and Audiwe are facing the maximum technological banner of the Volkswagen group, a base that will give life to more electric cars in the future, but which will be released for the first time with the electric Macan.

For the moment Porsche reserves the most specific details of this Macan, however it has confirmed that a lithium-ion battery with 100 kWh capacityan architecture of 800 volts and a system of fast recharge whose power will exceed 270 kW which is currently capable of reaching the Taycan, which according to Porsche will allow the new electric Macan recharge from 5 to 80% of the battery in a time of 25 minutes.

The propulsion will be provided by a scheme of all-wheel drive with two electric motors whose maximum power will be around 612 hp and the maximum torque will be 1,000 Nm. Taking these figures into account, it is expected that the range of this Macan will be expanded with less powerful versions, even with a single electric motor, in order to offer more efficient and affordable variants. As a curiosity, The electric Porsche Macan will have a weight distribution of 42/58 (front / back). Dynamically, we can expect behavior that is just as sporty as the current model, as this Macan will have torque vectoring control, electronic rear limited slip, steered rear axle, active shock absorbers and air suspension.

The autonomy of this new Macan is one of the great mysteries that Porsche still does not want to solve. However, taking into account the announced battery capacity (100 kWh) and the level of efficiency that the brand intends to achieve in this SUV, it seems logical to think about autonomies capable of moving around 450-500 km under homologation conditions. All this will obviously depend on the performance and aerodynamics of each version.
