According to the authorities, the chef was driving a Jeep Gladiator of which he lost control and then crashed into a tree and the fence of a house.
Several images released by journalists show the chef’s unit completely destroyed at the front.
The chef Javier Bustilloowner of The Loquat Familysaid in a statement from Facebook that “They regret the irreparable loss of chef and friend Enrique Garcerán” indicating condolences to the chef’s family.
“Our hearts are broken. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Enrique, your passion for cooking, your insatiable thirst and love for work allowed you to conquer the hearts of your guests. Your determination and leadership took you all over the world, leaving a mark on every continent you visited. We will always remember you and appreciate your contribution to the gastronomic industry of Puerto Rico. Rest in peace, Chef Garcerán». has said.
According to preliminary investigations, the chef was going at a high speed so he was unable to maneuver after losing control of the car: “He did not allow him to control the steering wheel”However, the hypothesis of a heart attack behind the wheel will be ruled out after the autopsy.
