After the debut of the new BMW X1 in ICE, plug-in hybrid and fully electric (iX1) powered variants, the German automaker is set to introduce the x2 sportier looking. And, although photographers have captured prototypes of the SUV with a combustion engine, this is not the case today, since Spy images have captured the BMW iX2 EV 2024 testing on public roads.
It is worth mentioning that despite the camouflage that covers every inch of the bodywork, the zero-emission nature of the prototype looks quite evident. This, given the lack of exhaust pipes, the covered kidney grille and, of course, the “Electric Vehicle” label on the tailgate.

In addition to the model-specific grille, the iX2 have the usual blue accents you employ BMW to differentiate electric cars from their internal combustion engine counterparts. The rest of the bodywork will be shared with the other versions of the X2. Including the coupe-style roofline which, in the case of this iX2is much more dramatic compared to its predecessor, and the shoulders are pronounced.
It is expected that the iX2 share your EV fundamentals with the iX1, although the more aerodynamic bodywork could result in a slight increase in available range. Note that the BMW iX1 xDrive30 comes equipped with two electric motors producing 308 hp (230 kW / 313 PS) and 494 Nm (364 lb-ft) of torque, plus a 64.7 kWh battery.
This AWD setup sounds great for the iX2, which could also come with a cheaper and less powerful FWD variant in the future. This is also the first time we’ll see a 100% electric X2.
A model year 2024
Furthermore, it is expected that the BMW iX2 debut alongside the entire X2 range sometime in 2023 as model 2024. It is worth mentioning that the German manufacturer will not bring the iX1 to USAso it is not clear if the iX2 will cross Atlanti.
