The Tesla Cyber Quad for children was one of the most requested Christmas gifts last year, reaching the point of selling out quickly.

Now in 2022, its price is $1,900although it is being recalled for “failing to meet the requirements of the federal youth ATV safety standards.”

This exit from the market is due to an incident where an adult woman and an eight-year-old boy were injured after the vehicle overturned. The 36-year-old suffered a shoulder injury in the incident.

In a notice reviewed by RoadShow, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said the product does not meet safety standards related to its air suspension and maximum tire pressure.

«It lacks a CPSC-approved ATV action plan, which is required to manufacture, import, sell, or distribute ATVs.” says the ad.

The latter is notorious because the action plan contains «numerous safety requirements, such as bicyclist training, dissemination of safety information, age recommendations, and other safety measures» which has the objective of «reduce the risks of accidents and injuries, avoiding serious injuries or death”.

In this context, the entity urged the owners not to use the Cyberquad and contact Radio Flyer to obtain a refund.

However, to do so owners will need to remove the engine controller from the vehicle and send it back to Radio Flyer via a pre-paid envelope. After this process, the company will grant the corresponding money. The good news is that customers they will receive $50 for that procedure.

The Cyberquad for kids is built by China’s Feishen Vehicle Industry Co and imported by Radio Flyer. There is a record that they were marketed around 5,000 through the Tesla website.
