With the looming threat of traffic restrictions for those vehicles that do not have an ECO or Zero Emissions label and the arrival of new Low Emission Zones in cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, cars that have the most favorable environmental labels become in the most desired for anyone who is thinking of buying a new car in this year 2023.
In part that has been one of the keys to the success of Toyota, which has become the best-selling brand in the last year and has put its hybrids on the best-seller lists. But are hybrids the only and best option on the market? What alternatives are available to buy a new car with an ECO label?
Today we will see what Renault offers us. And what does the range of a product with more than three decades of experience offer us, the Renault Clio.
Looking for a utility with an ECO label
Definitely the Toyota Yaris is one of my favorite utilities and an option that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a comfortable car, for the city, for day-to-day, hybrid and with an ECO label. As long as it fits into your budget.
To this day the Toyota Yaris has a price on offer from €21,325, with the condition of financing the purchase. But it is important to note that Toyota also has a promotion, paying in cash, for €21,550. A very small difference that, without a doubt, is very advantageous for the client who does not want to finance the purchase of his new car, or prefers to do it under more favorable and less strict conditions, which are usually imposed by the finance companies linked to the brands for take advantage of these offers.
A utility with an ECO label for less than €18,000
To this day the Renault Clio is available from €15,880, if we take it with the most basic trim and equipment line and the most powerful engine, which is a very modest 65 CV gasoline engine. Our advice, unless our budget is very tight, would be to opt for a more equipped version and a more powerful engine, such as the 90 CV TCe.
For €17,154 we already have a more equipped Renault Clio, with the balance line, and the 90 HP TCe gasoline engine.
But the interesting thing comes with a Renault Clio TCe 100, with a balance line, which for €17,882 already allows us to access a bifuel engine, which works interchangeably with gasoline or LPG (we recommend reading our guide on LPG) and which has a label ECO, for less than €18,000.
For €728 more we not only have 10 CV more power, but also the much appreciated ECO label. Without going any further, with this configuration the Renault Clio is one of the best-selling LPG cars in Spain, only surpassed by Dacia products – which also use this mechanics.
Even better, ECO label with hybrid mechanics
Today the Renault Clio range is one of the most complete on the market. It still has a diesel, something increasingly rare in products in its segment. It also has C-labeled gasoline engines. And in addition to an ECO-labeled LPG, it also offers a 145-hp hybrid (complete), which is the true rival of the Toyota Yaris.
The Renault Clio hybrid is available from €21,977 but by financing the purchase we can have an offer from €20,629. Therefore, it is located at prices very similar to those of the Yaris. So the budget will no longer be an impediment to choose between one and the other.
