Has it stopped making sense to buy diesel? In these times, it does not seem that diesel is the best decision, due to the pressure imposed by environmental regulations, and the arrival of new Low Emission Zones with increasing restrictions. Not to mention a key factor that we have always highlighted as an essential condition to buy a diesel, that of the need to travel many kilometers a year.
But if there is any diesel option that we would recommend, that would be the micro-hybrid diesel. Cars that despite having a diesel engine have an ECO label. And an option that, although it is increasingly rare on the market, outside of premium brands, is still available in some very specific products.
And that is the case of the car that concerns us in this article. A family member that stands as an anti-SUV recipe, which has a huge trunk with a load capacity of 625 liters, which has an ECO label and the price of a Toyota Corolla.
Anti-SUV, diesel, good boot and ECO label
Weeks ago we have already told you why the Kia Ceed Tourer is one of the most recommended cars from Kia, but also on the market for anyone looking for a spacious car on a tight budget.
Your starting price is €22,600 (with gasoline engine and label C). But the interesting configurations come from the hand of its micro-hybrid engines, which are a 1.0 MHEV gasoline and 120 CV with automatic transmission and a 1.6 MHEV diesel with 136 CV and manual transmission.
The configuration that we propose in this article is a Kia Ceed Tourer 1.6 MHEV diesel, with ECO label, with 136 CV of power and manual gearbox. Its approved consumption (according to WLTP) is 4.4 liters/100 kilometers, which would place it among the cars (not plug-in) with the lowest consumption on the market and, above all, of its category and size.
with this configuration the Kia Ceed Tourer diesel with ECO label part of the €25,432. Its standard equipment includes a complete package of driving aids (with lane keeping assistance system, emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, fatigue detection and dynamic high beam assistant) and a simple sound system, with 5″ screen and USB connection.
If we add more equipment, the Drive version is on sale for €26,882 (+€1,450). and it already includes an entertainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, and a parking assistance camera.
The most obvious alternative, hybrid and therefore with an ECO label, is that of the Toyota Corolla Touring Sport that is available from €27,500. Although, in the event that we do not need a large trunk, the Toyota Corolla from €24,650.
