Toyota and its hybrids continue to sweep the Spanish market. 5 of the 10 best-selling hybrids and micro-hybrids in November in Spain are Toyota models. And that’s not all. The model in question has also been the best-selling hybrid SUV in Spain last monthproviding a good trunk for its size and reaching prices similar to those of its diesel-powered rivals.
There are fewer and fewer excuses not to choose a hybrid. And we are no longer just talking about the Toyota range. As we have been counting in our different analyzes of the market, it is increasingly the brands, and the models, that have hybrids in their range. And of course we will also see those SUV alternatives that are available on the market and that can be purchased right now, without having to wait for next year’s releases.
Diesel, on the other hand, continues to lose ground. Diesel is being sold less and less. And there are fewer and fewer products on the market that maintain diesel engines, especially if we aim at the segment of compact cars and the smallest and urban ones.
Diesel loses ground and makes way for hybrids that dominate the best-seller lists in Spain
A hybrid SUV at the price of diesel
The Toyota Yaris Cross is on sale with a price of €24,100, as long as we finance the purchase. If we pay in cash, the offer price will be €25,350. The price of the Toyota Yaris Cross has not risen since June, and will remain so, at least with this offer, until the start of the new year.
As we told you, The strong point of the Toyota Yaris Cross lies in its hybrid mechanics. It is equipped with a hybrid motor of 116 CV of power and has an ECO label. Another of the most interesting aspects lies in the good use of space, and its trunk, with a load capacity of 390 liters that is higher than that of other SUVs of its size and similar to that of some longer and larger SUVs.
The equipment of the cheapest version of the Toyota Yaris Cross it already includes an entertainment system with an 8″ touchscreen (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), 17″ wheels, automatic climate control, a rear view camera, remote connectivity services, LED headlights and keyless entry and start.
In Renault Captur hybrid it has a similar price, and is more powerful, but its standard equipment is smaller
Other interesting hybrid SUVs
The more interesting alternative to the Toyota Yaris Cross is what he proposes to us Renault Captur hybrid with a price of €24,251, and €25,370 paying cash. Its price is practically the same as the Toyota. But it is important to mention that the Renault was much more competitive just a few months ago, when it could be purchased for several thousand euros less than the Yaris Cross. In October it was available from €22,419, in November from €23,419, and now from €24,251.
At the same price, the Renault Captur has a more powerful mechanics, with 145 CV, but less standard equipment. In its access version it has a 7″ touch screen and rear parking aid, but not alloy wheels – it is equipped with steel wheels with trims – which would require configuring an optional LOOK package for €850 more.
