Traveling 150 kilometers without spending a drop of gasoline and without stopping to recharge batteries is only within the reach of fully electric cars – or with extended range. But that is not the case at hand. We talk about an SUV that, being able to travel 150 kilometers without spending gasoline, or stopping to recharge batteries, still has an internal combustion engine with which to continue traveling hundreds of kilometersnow yes consuming gasoline.
In this way we have a car that, in practice, and on a day-to-day basis, can be an electric car for all purposes, without requiring us to consume gasoline. And in those moments that we want to undertake a long-distance trip, we can take advantage of its internal combustion engine, so as not to have to stop to recharge batteries, nor to plan the trip based on its electrical autonomy and the availability of fast chargers.
But there are still more arguments why it is worth waiting until 2023 to buy this car.
WEY will start its sales in Spain in mid-2023, first with the Coffee 01 and then it will launch the Coffee 02, which is the same car, but 19 centimeters shorter.
The plug-in hybrid SUV with more autonomy
WEY will start its sales in Spain in mid-2023, having confirmed the opening of dealerships in Barcelona and Madrid, which will later be present in other Spanish cities that have not yet been announced. The first model to be marketed will be the WEY Coffee 01, a large SUV, plug-in hybrid and with 146 kilometers of electric range.
The second model in question, which we are talking about today, will arrive later, throughout 2023, and it is the WEY Coffee 02, with a length of 4.68 meters. Its natural rivals will be the BMW X3 and the Mercedes GLC. Unlike a WEY Coffee 01 which, at 4.87 meters in length, competes with the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE.

The keys to the WEY plug-in hybrid SUV
The first key to WEY Coffee 02, and compelling reason to buy it, is its high electrical autonomy. The second his price. The price of WEY Coffee 02 has not yet been announced, but we do know that WEY Coffee 01 will be around €55,900. With that price, the WEY car would be around €30,000 below its rivals from BMW and Mercedes, being more powerful, having more electric autonomy, and a very complete standard equipment. We imagine the WEY Coffee 02 will once again be priced well below its German rivals.
As we told you, the third key to WEY Coffee 02 lies in its equipment. WEY has not yet announced the standard equipment of the Coffee 02, but it should be similar to that of the Coffee 01, which already includes 21″ wheels, electric and heated seats, Head-Up Display, 360º cameras, semi-autonomous driving… .
Undoubtedly, another of the most interesting alternatives is the Mercedes GLC plug-in hybrid and diesel, which has an electric range of between 112 and 128 kilometers, and a diesel internal combustion engine. But its price is €77,725 and, therefore, much higher than what we expect from Coffee 02.
