This Buick Reatta deserves a second chance (+ video)

The buick reatta It is a little known car in these parts. Not even in the United States is a car very present in the ideology of today’s petrolheads. However, at the end of the eighties, it was, together with the Cadillac Allanté, one of the most advanced products of General Motors. It was manufactured in the United States in a semi-artisanal way, in a low-volume vehicle plant, and stood out for its highly advanced – for the time – infotainment system with monochrome screens. Decidedly a classic. And that’s why this Reatta deserves a second life.

The car featured in today’s video is a Buick Reatta that has seen better days. He was left out in the open for 15 years and became home to dozens of rodents. This mid-engine coupe deserves to be restored, which is why WD Detailing has decided to make it as presentable as possible for its future owner. The exterior cleaning has required several contact washes, as well as a two-stage polish for the bodywork. Despite some areas with badly damaged paint, the black has regained its shine.

The Buick Reatta’s engine was a naturally aspirated 3.8 V6 with 170 hp.

The exterior transformation has been remarkable, but the transformation of its interior has been even more so. It was full of mold of all colors, stains, rodent feces and urine… and in general unhealthy things. With a combination of multi-purpose, steam and scrub cleaners, virtually all stains are gone. For the carpets, a hydro-vacuum cleaner has been necessary, which has allowed the most embedded dirt to be removed. The end result is still far from perfect, but it’s vastly improved from where it started.
