Toyota RAV4 PHEV Tailored In Three Flavors For 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon

Toyota Industries Corporation is a member of the Toyota Group focused on manufacturing textile machinery, forklifts and auto parts, but is bringing three special plug-in-hybrid RAV4s to Tokyo Auto Salon 2023. The company is teasing a modified model ahead of the show starting on January 13.

The RAV4 PHEV with Offroad Package is the most exciting member of the trio. Toyota Industries Corporation equipped it with a Yakima roof rack, and a gas can attached to the near side of the hatchback. The body is mostly dark gray, but there are black elements on the hood and front fenders. The side sills get a voluminous look. The modified fascia has integrated rectangular fog lights. The crossover rides on black wheels with red mud flaps behind it.

The Adventure version has a much lighter look compared to the Offroad Package. Toyota Industries Corporation provided a modified front fascia and a set of black wheels. The body cladding appears thicker than the plug-in RAV4 from the Japanese factory.

Finally, the Sport Package takes a different look by adopting a look that looks good on the road, rather than having a rugged style. Toyota Industries Corporation installed the front fascia with a trapezoidal center opening and narrow channels in the splitter. There is also a small inlet between the hood and nose. Body-colored sills adorn the sides, and the wheels are black.

The Toyota RAV4 Prime is the North American equivalent of the plug-in-hybrid model in Japan. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors have a total output of 302 horsepower (225 kilowatts) and 353 pound-feet (479 Newton-meters) of torque. The 18.1 kilowatt-hour battery provides EPA estimated electric driving range of 42 miles (68 kilometers).

It is available in SE and XSE trim levels. For the 2023 model year, prices start at $42,925 after a $1,335 destination charge. Getting a higher value costs $46,795.

Toyota launched the RAV4 Prime in November 2019, and it went on sale for the 2021 model year. Since its launch, the automaker has made no significant upgrades or changes to the model.
