Two officers from Weld County in Colorado, USAwere charged with various felonies and misdemeanors after a woman was injured in September, when a train hits a patrol car parked on the tracks, where the agents left it.

The Weld County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday that officer Jordan Steinke of the Fort Lupton Police Department has been charged with one felony count of criminal attempt to commit involuntary manslaughter; felony assault in the second degree; and misdemeanor reckless endangerment.

For his part, Sgt. Pablo Vazquez from the Platteville Police Department faces five misdemeanor charges of: reckless endangerment; obstruct a road or other passageway; careless driving; and parking where prohibited.

Train hits patrol car in Colorado

Previously, the Fort Lupton Police Department released body camera footage from the night of September 16 showing a train crashing into a police patrol of Platteville with Yareni Rios-Gonzalez20 years old, inside.

According to the police, Vazquez arrested Rios-Gonzalez in Weld County, near Highway 85 and Route 38, following an alleged road rage incident that involved a gun.

Later, two Fort Lupton police officers arrived at the scene and placed her in the back of the Platteville officer’s vehicle, which was illegally parked on the train tracks. It was while the three officers were searching the truck of Rios-Gonzalezthat a honking train collides with the patrol car with her inside it.

The police stated that Ríos-González suffered “serious bodily injury”, including nine broken ribs, a broken arm, a broken leg, a fractured sternum and head injuries. The woman plan to file a lawsuit against the two Weld County Police Departments.

He faces a threat charge

The Rios-Gonzalez attorney He assured that the woman spent more than a week in the hospital and that she faces a long recovery.

For its part, the Weld County Prosecutor’s Office stated that Rios-Gonzalez also faces a felony threatening.

The officers and Rios-Gonzalez received a citation. But they were not arrested. Court dates have not yet been set.
