Nothing is known about the successor to the McLaren 720S, but… it’s already sold out until 2024!

After five years of life, the production of the McLaren 720S quietly wrote the end point of its history in 2022. The British brand has good and bad news about this fact: It seems that a successor is on the horizon, but almost nothing is known about it. Just one detail: it is sold out until mid-2024.

Nicolas Brown, president of McLaren in the United States, was chatting with Automotive News at CES in Las Vegas and gave some more information about the model that could fill the gap left by the McLaren 720S. Of course, he was very cautious with the details and only confirmed that Your clients have already made the necessary deposit to reserve it. No, the model has not been officially announced: it has not been shown, nor has it been revealed what it will be called.

When McLaren customers learned they could no longer order a 720S, they realized “something was coming.” The bad news for those who wanted to incorporate this model into their exclusive private garage is that it is sold out “well into 2024.” From the brand they explain that its customers know that the next model will be more refined than the McLaren 720S: “They understand that it is not a state-of-the-art, completely new, built-from-the-scratch vehicle. They have begun to make reservations at dealerships, although we have not said anything.

Beyond this information, McLaren has not released any details about the successor to the McLaren 720S: it is not clear when the model will be introduced or released. A few weeks ago, the British brand reported on its recent partnership with Lockheed Martin to design a futuristic supercar, but it is not known if that collaboration has anything to do with this new model.

If your substitute is more refined, an improvement can be expected from the offer that the McLaren 720S put on the table: a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 making 720bhp and 770Nm of peak torque, paired with a seven-speed SSG transmission as its dance partner.

All the lights for the McLaren Artura

While the rumors revolve around the possible arrival of an SUV, all the Woking spotlights are focused on the McLaren Artura: a plug-in hybrid supercar powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 (585PS and 585Nm), which is accompanied by a 95PS and 225Nm electric motor. The maximum combined power is 680 hp and the maximum torque of 720 Nm.

Both are connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which transmits that power to the rear axle via an electronically controlled differential. Thanks to a lithium-ion battery pack with a usable capacity of 7.4 kWh, the McLaren Artura is capable of travel up to 30 kilometers in electric mode with a top speed of 130 km/h.
