Time is against you if you want brand new SUV at a reasonable price. All cars have become alarmingly expensive, but there are still exceptions to the rule – more and more. This is the case of the car that concerns us in this article, whose price on sale has not changed since May 2022. For 29,900 euros, It has more equipment, more connectivity and an automatic transmission than the version of the same car offered for 26,000 euros in December 2021 with a manual transmission. This is a bargain with capital lettersAnd it won’t last much longer.
We are talking about the Volvo XC40 Premium Edition. This premium compact SUV is objectively one of the most interesting proposals in the segment: its interior quality is very high, it has a minimalist design that has treated itself very well over time, it is extremely safe and has comfortable and poised dynamics. . The version offered is, logically, the access version, called T2. It is equipped with a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, with 129 CV and without hybridizationTherefore, it lacks the DGT ECO label.
The quality of the cabin is sensational. It has good rear seats and a large trunk of 452 liters.
This engine is necessarily associated with a automatic gearbox – Torque converter – Eight relations, replacing the manual change to which it was associated a few months ago. Its benefits are correct, with a 0 to 100 km/h of 10.9 seconds. It is a propellant more than enough for an urban environment, and also to travel with confidence in an interurban area. The average consumption approved is 7.3 l/100 km, and after having tried it, I can affirm that it has a smooth and refined behavior, as well as being very willful.
In the equipment of the Volvo XC40 Premium Edition we have 17-inch wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control or the City Safety suite active safety – with automatic emergency braking, traffic sign reading or lane departure warning. We have digital instrumentation and a 9-inch screen for the infotainment system. Nevertheless, we do not have the Navigation Tech Pack from other months, so we lack Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, browser or wireless charging for smartphones.
In connectivity, we lose the Navigation Tech package, and therefore, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility.
This is, in my opinion, the big handicap of the January 2023 offer of the Volvo XC40 T2 Premium Edition. In any case, the price of 29,900 euros is still extremely attractive. To access the price we have to finance at least 21,000 euros of the amount of the car, for a term of 36 or more months. The financing conditions are not detailed on the Volvo website. The offer is only valid until January 31, and it is very likely that Volvo will not be able to continue to maintain such a low price in the current market environment.
Despite having taken a step back in connectivity, it is still a great bargain and a highly recommended purchase.
Volvo XC40 Premium Edition rivals are much more expensive
What is really relevant about this offer is the tremendous difference in price compared to its direct rivals in the premium segment. The Audi Q3 with mechanical 1.5 TFSI of 150 CV already starts at more than 40,000 eurosMeanwhile he BMW X1 with 136 hp gasoline mechanics It already costs 41,500 euros on offer. The Mercedes GLA 180, also with 136 CV, remains at 39,711 euros. All of them lack the DGT ECO label. If we want a hybrid alternative, we have to go to the Lexus UX 250hfor 34,650 euros.
