Clear your mind of so many electric cars, and enjoy the battle between a Ferrari Enzo and a Maserati MC12

I recognize that the conversation we are currently experiencing, with the advent of electric cars, hybrids, environmental labels and low emission zones, can be exhausting. In order not to get overwhelmed with so many complications, it is convenient to release mental ballast enjoying the cars that we really like. And of course, Who is not going to like a drag race with Italian V12s as protagonists? In this video, a Ferrari Enzo is pitted against its twin brother, the Maserati MC12.

The duel has been courtesy of the YouTube channel of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles – an essential museum if you ever visit that Californian city – and has been filmed at the same airfield where Hoonigan records his acceleration duels in his series This vs. That. Both cars share platform, with the Maserati MC12 being the least powerful, as its 6.3-litre V12 reduced its power from the 660 PS of the Ferrari Enzo to 621 PS. It is somewhat heavier, due to its targa-like roof, but its better aerodynamics gave it a higher top speed.

The Maserati MC12 and the Ferrari Enzo are considered two of the best cars of the first decade of the century.

In any case, the acceleration battle is a quarter mile with a flying start, and the owners of the cars are the drivers. It is evident from the first moment that the Maserati driver is not getting the most out of his mechanics, something evident in the tremendous difference between the twins. Although the Ferrari Enzo takes quite a ride around the track, the winner has to face off against a 730bhp Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. In any case, the real winners in these drag races are your eyes and ears.
