Dacia updates its electric car and now has 50% more power

Renault’s low-cost firm, Dacia, has undergone an important transformation process in recent years: from embodying only the cheapest and most humble part of the manufacturer to becoming one of the most complete firms within the generalist segmentwith SUV, compact and even 100% electric options like this Dacia Spring, a small urban with more than 200 km of autonomy that is now renewed with great arguments. What’s new in this Dacia Spring 2023?

Despite the fact that it is not a model that can be considered old (it arrived on our market in 2021), the Dacia Spring has already received two updates. The first, shortly after its launch, consisted of an image improvement with a new logo and new colors for the bodywork, the second being the one we are dealing with in this article. And it is that The Spring, despite being a Spartan model in many aspects, has managed to win over a large number of drivers, which is why the brand tries to keep it up to date.

Small, with the right equipment and few features: The truth is that, initially, the Dacia Spring does not seem to be the most desirable product on the market. The reality of its sales tells us the opposite, since the Spring is one of the best-selling electric cars on the market thanks, fundamentally, to a sale price that, counting all the available aid, is currently around 13,000 €. Now it substantially improves its features and its attractiveness, with a renewal that will reach the first customers during the summer of 2023.

A new 65 hp Dacia Spring and a more attractive finish

Do not look for any exterior modification beyond a more attractive decoration in the case of the new Extreme versions, a finish that replaces the Expression which until now was the most complete option in the range. You will be able to distinguish it from the access version by its details in “copper brown” color on the exterior and interior, as well as by a new color for the bodywork that the brand has dubbed “Slate Blue”.

The great novelty of this new Spring, which is still the cheapest electric car on the market with permission from the Invicta Electric D2S, is found under its hood: To the current 45 CV electric motor, which is now reserved for the Access Base finish, a 65 CV option is added (almost 50% more power) that ostensibly improves the agility and performance of the small urban without affecting autonomy, since the 65 CV Dacia Spring homologates 224 km in the WLTP cycle.
