The lovesharing electric motorcycles they will no longer be working Tenerife, Spain, as of January 1, 2023. The service started by the Domingo Alonso Group in 2019, must end its activity due to the implementation of different unfavorable regulations, such as the subsidy of 100% of bus trips. This measure was branded by the experts as unfair competition, since it would radically close the door to any private mobility alternative, less polluting and that would favor the decarbonization of transport in the Canary Islands.
Lovesharing electric motorcycles will leave Tenerife
Free bus transportation ends months of homelessness for the company. And it is that, since 2021, the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife does not stop adding discriminatory measures for the service. And increasing their administrative pressure with sanctions and fines and even, last July, they annulled the Municipal Circulation and Mobility Ordinance that allowed parking the motorcycles on the sidewalk as long as this does not impede an obstacle for pedestrians in Tenerife, for example.
In addition, the lack of police security and the high number of inoperative traffic cameras on the streets of the island have encouraged vandalism, something that has claimed the lives of part of the fleet of blue electric companies in recent months. It is clear that the streets of Tenerife have become a hostile environment for ventures and innovations in the transport sector.
For many, this situation means that the private entity cannot continue to carry out its activity freely, however, at the end of the day, the real people affected are the citizens. As a result of these barriers imposed by the lack of public administration, the mobilization options of the people of Tenerife fall only on the most traditional and polluting public transport. With this decision, Tenerife it is further and further away from electric mobility and its own development with a view to a 100% electric future. It is worth mentioning that the service is still active in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Lovesharing: a sustainable brand

These years of activity and success for the service gave rise to more than 550,000 trips Hand in hand with 36,000 users and traveling 1,500,000 km, four times the distance between the Earth and the Moon. Thanks to these journeys, love sharing and users on the island of Tenerife saved 153,749 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere. A complete feat.
These numbers show the good reception that love sharing received from users.
