The 2 safest cars for Latin America and the Caribbean: a Toyota and a Volkswagen obtained 5 stars Latin NCAP

The new tests carried out by the New Vehicle Assessment Program for Latin America and the Caribbean they threw at the vehicles Toyota Corolla and the Volkswagen New Virtus as the safest on the market.

Latin NCAP analyze the version with the basic equipment of the models evaluated. The qualified parameters are described below.

Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla, produced in Brazil, received five stars. This is due, in part, to the 7 airbags and Electronic Stability Control standard since 2017.

This car got 83.31% in Adult Occupant, 91.84% in Child Occupant, 59.72% in Protection of Pedestrians and Vulnerable Road Users and 81.57% in Security Assistance.

The 2019 version is the current one and received five stars for Adult and Child Occupant Protection under the previous protocol of Latin NCAP.

The test verified the frontal crash, side impact, side impact with a pole, whiplash, pedestrian protection and ESC. In that case, the lack of ADAS technologies and curtain airbags hurt its rating.

Volkswagen New Virtus

The Volkswagen New Virtus, produced in India, achieved five stars. The positive result is due to its six airbags and standard ESC. The data was 92.35% in Adult Occupant, 91.84% in Child Occupant, 53.09% in Protection of Pedestrians and Vulnerable Road Users and 84.98% in Safety Assistance.

As in the previous ones, the frontal impact, side impact, side impact with pole, whiplash, pedestrian protection, city and high-speed AEB and ESC were evaluated. In addition, the test was carried out by decision of the firm.
