Thinking of an electric car often means thinking of a Tesla. And it is that you like Elon Musk worse or better, we must recognize that the ecosystem that he has set up with his brand is effective. Or at least that’s how the new “access” Tesla Model S and Model X want to make it clear, and I quote it because both have 670 hp, 634 and 576 kilometers of autonomy respectively and a price of 114,990 euros for the saloon and 123,990 euros for the SUV.
No, these figures are not suitable for ordinary mortals, far from it, but given the benefits, autonomy and charging capacity provided by the Supercharger network we find ourselves with a not so far-fetched relationship. But it is something that we can consolidate further down by comparing both electric cars with their most direct rivals.
More than 100,000 euros cost the basic versions of the Tesla Model S and Model X in Spain
But in addition to power, autonomy and benefits, What do the base and newly refreshed Model S and Model X offer? In the first instance, we find an aesthetic that does not differ too much from what is known, coming across novelties in the headlights and pilot lights, the name “Tesla” on the tailgate, a new range of colors and new wedge tires with sizes between 19 and 21 inches in the case of the sedan and between 20 and 22 in the case of the SUV.
The interior of both continues to show a great affinity with minimalism, delegating practically every function to a large 17-inch central screen, which is complemented by a 12.3-inch digital dashboard. Be that as it may, the big change is found in the steering wheel, since Tesla now allows to your clients to recover the one that is totally round to leave, for the moment as an option, the controversial steering wheel type “yoke”.
But what about its benefits? Starting with the Model S, this declares 670 hp, a 0 to 100 in 3.2 seconds, a top speed of 250 km/h and a range, under WLTP of 634 kilometers. All of this is possible thanks to a 100 kWh capacity battery, and which admits recharges of up to 250 kW, being able to recover a large part of the autonomy in a ridiculous amount of time.
In the case of the Model X we find more modest figures due to its size, weight and aerodynamics. Thus, the electric SUV, also with 670 hp, covers 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds, reaches a top of 250 km/h and declares a range of 576 kilometers under the WLTP cycle.
All this entails a price of 114,990 euros for the Model S and 123,990 euros for the Model X. I repeat, these are not figures that the bulk of the population can assume, but, What happens when we gossip to the competition?
For example, a Porsche Taycan Turbo, which declares 680 CV and a range of 508 kilometers, implies a disbursement of 160,288 euros. The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 offers better finishes and a larger size, but in performance it and the Model X with 544 CV and 595 kilometers of autonomy are relatively similar, figures that force us to face a payment of 165,900 euros.
